History

Our group works from the month of September of 1985, date in which it was constituted to promote, in the heat of might of the giants in our country, the initiative to construct and to take the giants in our locality by means of a private organization (in Vallgorguina there are giant puppets of municipal no property), being GEGANTERS OF VALLGORGUINA, a cultural Organization recognized by the City council of Vallgorguina in the same level of rights and representativeness of our town that any other of the existing ones in the locality.

This relation stayed until, at the end of 1996, the Board of directors of that organization decided to do without our collaboration and to create its own group of carriers. Then the GEGANTERS OF VALLGORGUINA we constituted ourselves as Organization with own legal form and we happened to use for our celebrations to giants of Gualba: the "Bruixot" and the "Goja".

The 26 of April of 1998 are the date in which the opening of our first giant took place, known popularly like "l'Avi Montassell, flabiolaire of Vallgorguina".

But the relation with the giant puppets we did not finish it with the parades and our people dedicate many hours to the maintenance of a data base on the presence of giants in 80 countries, and that consists of more than 3500 references, which caused that in 2000, along with others comparsa of giants, we started up the constitution of the organization of international scope denominated "The International Circle of Friends of the Giants (C.I.A.G.)".

The group is formed by 25 people, between carriers, musicians and companions.
