Our giants

Our main giant is "l'Avi Montassell, flabiolaire of Vallgorguina", recognized by the City council of Vallgorguina like representative giant of our locality.

It was constructed in tribute to Mr. Pere Coll i Dalmau, a musician of our locality that with musics of its pipe animated the celebrations and populaars dances of the environs. At his time he was considered like one of the best musicians, being visited the 28 of February of 1925 by the folklorista Joan Amades, when Mr. Coll or counted on 82 years, and he interpreted to Amades them to him musics of dances of our locality, the majority or lost.

The giant that represents it was constructed by Toni Mujal, of Cardona, weighs 60 kilos and measures 4 meters of stop. The figure reproduces with total fidelity Mr. Coll, like the pipe that takes, which is identical to that touched, and that even conserves their descendants. I

t was released the 26 of April of 1998, within a great popular celebration, and with the spectacularity of "l'Avi", leaving "Can Montassell", the house where Mr. Coll had lived all his life.

The other two giants are the giant puppets of Gualba that at first were to us let to be able to continue our activities. They weigh 35 kilos each one and they measure 3.80 meters of stop.

The 16 of September of 2000 we released our two first bigheaded ones and in February of 2002 we were engaged in two more from our trip to Brazil.

In 2005, within the acts of celebration of the first twenty years of the group, three new giants coming from the African continent added themselves. One is a giant of Guinea-Conakry, another one of Nigeria and a third party of Gabon.
